TSS can occur in men, women and children, with around half of all cases diagnosed occurring in menstruating girls and women.

What causes Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)?

Although no one knows for sure, Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is believed to be caused by toxin producing strains of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Symptoms can develop very quickly and may seem like flu to begin with.
