Look goodSpots can be a total pain, they make you feel rubbish and not to mention embarrassed, but with our tips and a bit of care you can enjoy healthy skin and a more confident you!

First things first…

The most important thing to remember is you're not alone, loads of girls get the occasional spot and that includes those ‘oh so perfect' stars we dream of being; look closely at Cameron Diaz or Britney Spears and you'll soon see that no one is perfect.

What causes spots?

Although many things can contribute to bad skin, the main culprits are those mischievous hormones. During puberty your hormones are likely to be all over the place and so girls often find that their skin produces too much oil (sebum). Normally a balanced level of oil in the skin is what keeps it soft and fresh looking, but if you have too much it can block your pores. Blocked pores lead to bacteria, which unfortunately for us, leads to spots.

You'll have heard on the grapevine that chocolate, chips and generally unhealthy food can cause spots. Although this is not a direct cause of spots a healthier you on the inside, will help to keep your skin looking good on the outside.
