Getting active doesn't have to be about joining a gym or going jogging at 6am every morning! Being active can simply mean not always taking the lazy option! But the result is having loads of energy and feeling great. The fact is that active people burn more energy, this in turn means the body starts to use up it's fat stores. Activity also helps to build up muscle, which speeds up your metabolism.

Easy ways to get active:

  1. Take the stairs instead of the lift or escalator (at school, out shopping etc)
  2. Join in with sports at school/college (play centre instead of goal keeper!)
  3. Get off the bus a few stops early and walk the rest of the way.
  4. Stand up on the bus; you'll impress people with your selflessness, whilst also using loads of muscles to balance when the bus is moving!
  5. If the weather is good, go out with your mates and browse the shops, go to the park or simply walk instead of sitting in front of the computer or TV.
