Hey Vicki. I sent this question before, but I don't know which section it went in. So, I've convinced my mum to let me use tampons, so she's gone to the shop and is buying some Lil-Lets ones. I really want to use them since I am going to visit my family tomorrow and next week, and am on my period. I'm really nervous about using tampons, but don't want to use pads. Any advice? Also, I've read on how to use Tampons, and think I know, but I'm not exactly sure. Thanks Vicki. Great website by the way. Chloe :D
Hi Chloe, I've just answered your question and it went in the Tampons, Towels and Liners Category.

Hi Vicki. My mum has agreed to let me use tampons, but I am extremely nervous, and worried. I know how to use them, but I'm not sure if I know all the details. My mum's popped out, and is picking up a box of Lil-Lets tampons for me, but I'm pretty nervous. Any advice? Thanks Vicki. :D Amazing website by the way.
Please allow me to reassure you and soon you will be wearing tampons like millions of women all over the world. First of all, please try not to worry. We usually recommend that you wait until day 2 or 3 of your period when your flow is at its heaviest as this will make the tampon easier to insert. It's so important to be relaxed before inserting the tampon at a slant towards the base of your spine. Refer to the instruction leaflet you will find inside any box of tampons or watch the demonstration videos on our website for extra guidance and soon with a bit of practice, you will be enjoying the discreet protection and confidence that wearing tampons provides. Thanks for your support.

There's a Taylor Swift song I don't understand what riding shotgun means, it goes like this :
I was riding shotgun with my hair undone
in the front seat of his car
With a one hand feel on the steering wheel
and another on my heart...
Its called our song :) thanks
To 'ride shotgun' means to ride stitting alonside the driver in the passenger seat.

Hi Vicki, Tegan again! I am 11
I have recently got a new boyfriend, and I really love him. He loves me to. I don't want him to ever dump me, so what should I do to keep him secure with me? I just need a few tips.
Thanks! :)
Hi Tegan, it's important to keep in mind that you're only 11 and as a young girl going through puberty, it's normal to experience intense feelings due to the increase in activity of your hormones. The thing is that these feelings will fade and in the long term, it's better I think to have boys as friends rather than boyfriends.

Hi Vicki, Tegan here.
I really want a bra, and because I usually wear loose t shirts, it doesn't look like my breasts are that big. But they are. I'm afraid to tell my mum. Also, do you have a bra size guide on the website?
Thanks Vicky! :)
Hi Tegan, measure below your breasts and at the fullest part of your breasts and come back to me. I will be able to calculate your bra size. Also try to remember that your mum was a teen going through puberty once - she will be able to help you.

hi vicki, you are an insperation to me!
Thank you for your kind words of support.

Hi Vicki, I haven't started my periods yet, but is it okay if I practise putting a tampon in but then take it out straight away? Thanks. Xxx <3
You should never practice using a tampon without being on your period because as it would be dry, it could cause tiny tears to form on the vagina wall which could lead to infection. Menstrual blood acts as a lubricant and makes the tampon easier to insert.

Yesterday I got a circle of blood on my poo. I told my mum and she said it was either I strained my bum, or I was starting to get my period. Do you think this could be my period?
If the blood was in your excrement, your mum was right in saying it was due to you having to strain. Menstrual blood is released from the vagina which is in the middle, in between your urethra and anus.

If you can get hold of a measuring tape, measure underneath your bust and then at the fullest part of your bust, contact me with the measurements and I will be able to calculate the size for you.

I haven't started my period and when I do im scared of telling my step-mum but I don't have an older sister. Also I am worried if it happens suddenly when I am in school. Any advice?
Please try not to worry as you must remember that your step-mum was a teen going through puberty once. If you're too embarrassed to talk to her, write her a note. A good way of knowing when your period might arrive is when you've been losing discharge for between 6-12 months and it's a good idea to wear pantliners during this time which will protect your underwear from possible leakage and save your embarrassment.

Hi Vicki, I am nearly 11 now and all my friends are developing but my body has shown no signs of growth - I haven't started my period and my boobs havent gotten any bigger from when I was a child, is this normal?
Try to remember that we're all different and our bodies develop differently to others. You're only 11 and still have plenty of time so please try not to worry.

this is cool
Thank you for your support.

hey Vicki some girls in my school are asking the girls if they have started their period I haven't they stared smiling and whispering about me when will I start ?? x
Please try not to worry because it's normal for girls to start their periods anytime between the ages of 8-18. Try to remember that we're all different and our bodies develop at different rates to others.
-
How long can you keep a tampon in for??? How many hours???
Tampons can be worn for between 4-8 hours.
-
hi vicki, im 14 and im a 32aa! also im about 5ft6 so my boobs r literally falt! im 15 in 3 months! and im orried they will never grow as they havent grown much for 2 years
Try to remember that we're all different and our bodies develop at different rates to others. There's still plenty of time for your breasts to develop but remember that while some of us have small breasts others have large, the size doesn't really matter at all - what matters is that you love the way you are made.

After you have grown 'hair down there' and underarm hair, 'ROUGHLY' (in months please) how far away are you from your period? Oh also I can't see discharge in my pants but in my 'V' it sometimes feels like its wet and a bit slippery? Is this discharge do you think?
PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER!
Yes this is discharge and the most reliable way of knowing when your period is about to arrive is when you've been losing discharge for between 6-12 months.

I'm 78cm underbust and 80 bust. What boob size am I?
-
Hi Vicki! <3 I started my period on the 2nd of may and it was really heavy, that night I had to stand in the bath for about 20 minutes to just let the blood come out.. :S it was heavy for about 10 days.. And then it stopped for 10 days now its back and still heavy.. Is this normal? Please answer I really want to know!
Please try not to worry as it's perfectly normal to experience irregular periods for up to 18 months after they first arrive. They will regulate in time though.
