Parents
A helping hand for parents
Your daughter’s first period is a huge moment in her life. We’ve all been through it and can remember the anticipation – but it can be a pretty scary time too. When the moment arrives for your daughter it’s important she’s prepared and understands the changes happening to her body.
How to explain periods to your daughter is very much down to how comfortable you feel discussing the subject, but we’ve tried to make it a little easier for you.
To get started why not download our free ‘becoming a teen’ leaflet or claim a free sample pack for your daughter to try.
Puberty and periods can be a difficult time and confusing time for girls (and their parents!) When your daughter approaches her period it’s important she’s prepared for the changes to her body, both physically and emotionally.
We all remember our first period, but knowing how to approach the subject with our daughters can be difficult. That's why we've created this section specifically for parents, which is full advice to give you the confidence to discuss this sometimes sensitive subject.
We’re working alongside the National Schools Partnership to deliver our ‘becoming a teen’ program to year 5 and 6 students. Created in line with the national curriculum, it’s designed to teach pupils about the changes they will, or are noticing to their bodies. Find out more about our work with schools.
